Las Vegas... IS what you expect... no more no less!! When we saw this huge city we understood perfectly WHY it´s called the sin city!! The people who are so rich and many times unhappy come here and feel good... being in Las Vegas is like being in a different world where everything and everybody is fantastic and EVERYTHING can be bought with money.
There are things that make your jaw drop (well you don´t expect less from this place) like betting your $10 in Bellagio sitting at a table next to Macaulay Culkin who is betting with the same easiness his 500 "bucks", or driving on the highway in the middle of the night... on the left a darkness like the hair of Snow White and on the right more or less the same, of course you are in the middle of the desert. Then suddenly you start seeing above the horizon small groups of lighs, after about two minutes you have so many lights in front of you that it looks like a Christmas lights competition... at that momento you know that there is no doubt that you are going in the right direction to Las Vegas.
After all the show, came the sad goodbye, it was time for Belén, Guillermo´s cousin to go back home, we had such a good time that it was really sad to break our little group of travelers.
For me Las Vegas is like Alice in Wonderland but instead of Alice we see people that don´t know what to do with their money.
Not less interesting is the history of this sin city:
Las Vegas, Spanish for 'The Meadows', was officially founded in 1905 and incorporated in 1911 with a population of only 800. Initially strict anti-gambling laws governed the state of Nevada but this all changed in 1931 when gambling was legalized throughout the state of Nevada.
It was after World War II that Las Vegas began to develop its reputation of 'Sin City'. Hotels and casinos were developed and entertainment and tourism became the valley's largest employer. Accordingly, by the 1960s wealthy businessmen were being attracted to the city. Billionaire Kirk Kerkorian was a major player in developing the modern city; he bought the Flamingo and in 1968 opened the biggest hotel in the world, the International Hotel.
Now, a hundred years after its conception, Las Vegas is one of the largest cities with a population exceeding two million. Wonderful resorts are still being created, all bigger and more luxurious than ever. Finally, Las Vegas remains the strongest contender for the world's major international tourist attraction.

Las Vegas... Es lo q te esperas... Ni mas ni menos!! Cuando lo vimos entendimos perfectamente el por qué de tanto vicio en esta "ciudad" en medio del desierto!! Es una demostración de gente que nada en dinero y en infelicidad... estar en Las Vegas es como estar en un mundo a parte donde todo es fantástico y TODO se puede comprar con dinero!!
Hay cosas que te dejan boquiabierto (aunque eso es lo que se espera de Las Vegas) como por ejemplo, estar apostando tus ridiculos $ 10 en el Bellagio y encontrarte sentado en la mesa de al lado a Macaulay Culkin quién apuesta con la misma facilidad sus 500 "pavos". O por ejemplo ir de noche por la autovia... a la izquierda la oscuridad mas negra que la noche y a la derecha más de lo mismo, claro, estás en medio del desierto. Cuando de repente tras el horizonte ves unas lucecitas y en dos minutos tienes delante un repliegue de luces que parecen el concurso de luces de navidad... Ahí sabes que no hay ninguna duda de que vas en la dirección correcta hacia Las Vegas!!
Después de ver tanto espectáculo vino la triste despedida de la prima de Guille, Belén... Nos lo pasamos tan bien los tres que nos dio mucha pena romper nuestro pequeño grupo de viajeros.
Para mi Las Vegas es Alicia en el país de las maravillas, pero en vez de Alicia vemos gente que no sabe qué hacer con tanto dinero!!
No menos interesante es la historia sobre el nacimiento de la ciudad del pecado:
Las Vegas, se fundó oficialmente en 1905 y se incorporó con una populación de sólo 800 habitantes. Inicialmente la dura ley contra el juego que estaba implantada en todo el estado de Nevada cambió en 1931 cuando las apuestas se legalizaron.
Fue después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial que Las Vegas empezó a obtenet la reputación de "La Ciudad del Pecado". Hoteles y casinos se expandieron rápidamente por la ciudad y fueron el principal atractivo turístico y de empleo del valle. Alrededor de los años 60 ricos hombres de negocios fueron atraídos a la ciudad. El billonario Kirk Kerkorian fue una figura muy importante en el desarrollo de la moderna ciudad; compró el Flamingo y en 1968 abrió el hotel más grande del mundo, el International Hotel.
Ahora, más de cien años después de su fundación, Las Vegas es una de las ciudades más grandes con una población que excede los dos millones. Se siguen construyendo preciosos resorts, cada vez más grandes y lujosos que nunca. Finalmente, Las Vegas sigue siendo un fuerte aspirante para la mayor atracción turística del mundo.
