Our Escapade

As I promised I´m here to tell you a little bit about the RTW (Round The World)tickets…once upon a time there was a boy named Alberto (our friend) that sent us an e-mail with several web pages dedicated to these kind of tickets, all based in the UK…at this moment the BIG research begins…I browsed dozens of webs…morning…afternoon…night…at work…at home…EVERYWHERE…dreaming with planes flying around the world…!!

We also thought that we should look for these kind of a tickets here in Spain, so we went to a travel agency…OK…we enter the agency…look to the right…pensioners…look to the left…MORE pensioners….I say to Guillermo: “ I think this is a travel agency por pensioners”…so we weren´t really suprised when the agent looked at us throw is thick glasses saying: “ round the what????”…and alter explaining intensively the kind of ticket we are looking for, he told us: “ OK we´ll call you in a couple of days”, after THREE weeks a young girl finally called me, very happy with the results of her search for our tickets…BUT…the price was the double of what I have found on the UK web pages…so…NO THANK YOU…at last we bought ours with THE GREAT ESCAPADE…and very happy with them!!!!

Como prometí, aquí estoy otra vez para contaros un poco sobre nuestros billetes de Vuelta al Mundo…érase una vez un chico llamado Alberto (nuestro amigo, que apenas ha tenido protagonismo en este blog J) nos mandó un e-mail con varias páginas web dedicadas a estos tipos de billetes, todas inglesas… en ese momento empezo la GRAN investigación… navegué por decenas de páginas… mañana…tarde… noche… trabajando… en casa… EN TODOS LOS LADOS… soñando con aviones dando vueltas al mundo…!!

Investigando más, pensamos en que deberíamos mirar un poco el propio mercado aquí en España, entonces nos fuimos a una agencia de viajes… entramos… miro a la derecha y veo jubilados…miro a la izquierda, todavía MÁS jubilados y le digo a Guille: “creo que éstos organizan viajes del imserso” así que no nos sorprendió mucho cuando el agente a través de sus gruesos cristales de gafas nos dijo: “ vuelta al que qué??" entonces después de una exhaustiva descripción del tipo de billetes que buscamos murmuró: “vale les llamaremos dentro de unos días”. Después de TRES semanas me llamó una chica visiblemente muy satisfecha con los resultados de su búsqueda…PERO… los billetes costaban el doble de lo que yo había encontrado en las páginas inglesas, así que… NO, GRACIAS… finalmente los compramos con una empresa llamada THE GREAT ESCAPADE y muy contentos!!!!

BORN TO BE WILD

Well I´m back!! I thought that it might be quite interesting to tell you a little bit about how this Round the Globe adventure  actually came to life. We started planning this trip in September 2009 after a summer vacation with my best friend in Thailand. I must say that Thailand totally changed my point of view of traveling, living, enjoying life…I mean you meet so many young people with such an open mind, enjoying every part of what they see and meet. I just suddenly felt like “ oh wow I want to live this experience to the top at least once in my life” traveling with a backpack, not knowing where you are going to lay your head the next night. When I came back from Thailand (August 2009) I couldn´t stop talking about my trip and passed the travel fever to Guillermo. At that moment we started talking about doing a backpackers trip for several months to New Zeland and Asia…there we still had no idea about the Round the World plane tickets, until a good friend of ours (thank you Alberto!!!!) sent us an e-mail with several web pages dedicated to these kind of plane tickets…AND WE SURE FOUND AN AWESOME ONE.

Bueno ya estoy aquí otra vez!! He pensado que podría ser bastante interesante compartir con vosotros cómo nació toda esta aventura de nuestra Vuelta al Mundo. La empezamos a planear en septiembre de 2009 después de unas vacaciones con mi mejor amiga en Tailandia. Tengo que admitir que Tailandia cambió totalmente mi punto de vista de viajar, vivir, disfrutar la vida…Me refiero a que conoces tanta gente joven con una mente tan abierta, disfrutando de todo lo que se encuentran por el camino. De repente tuve un sentimiento de “ wow yo quiero vivir una experiencia así a tope por lo menos una vez en mi vida” viajar con una mochila sin saber en que cama dormirás al día siguiente. Cuando volví de Tailandia (agosto 2009) no podía parar de hablar de mi experiencia y le pegué la fiebre viajera a Guillermo. En ese momento empezamos a hablar de hacer un viaje de mochileros por Nueva Zelanda y Asia…ahí todavía no sabíamos que existían unos billetes maravillosos de Vuelta al Mundo hasta que un buen amigo (gracias Alberto!!!!) nos mandó un e–mail con varias páginas web dedicadas precisamente a estos tipos de billetes…Y SI…ENCONTRAMOS UNO MUY GUAY.

Hi guys!!

Here we go! To be honest I´m a little bit nervous about this first post because this my first post ever ;-). Well Guillermo and I decided to write this blog because in about 2 weeks we will take our backpacks and start our Round the Globe trip. We really can´t wait, we will do our best so that you really get to feel a part of this BIG adventure. I´ll be giving you tips in each post about our next destinations (I have to intrigue you somehow).

Our first stop will be California and the whole trip will take about 8 months, the first 2 flights will be: Alicante – London – LA.


I want to give a big thank you to my friends that helped me make this possible (Paula, Alberto y Saloua)!!

Allá vamos! Si soy sincera estoy un poco nerviosa sobre este primer post, ya que nunca había escrito ninguno. Guillermo y yo decidimos escribir este blog porque en 2 semanas cogeremos nuestras mochilas y comenzaremos nuestra Vuelta al Mundo. Haremos lo máximo posible para que con este blog os sintáis parte de esta GRAN aventura. Os iré dando pistas en cada post sobre nuestros próximos destinos (os tengo que tener un poco intrigados).

Nuestra primera parada será California y todo el viaje durará en principio unos 8 meses, los dos primeros vuelos serán: Alicante – Londres – LA.


Me gustaría agradecer a mis amigos que me ayudaron a hacer todo esto posible (Paula, Alberto and Saloua)!!
